The Medical Biochemistry Page: This site, formerly known as the THCME Medical Biochemistry Page, has been modified, renamed and peer reviewed by MedEdPortal. Created by the Indiana University, School of Medicine, it includes medical biology tools in medicine; an encyclopedia of biomedical processes, structures, diseases, etc.; and detailed information on medical disorders/diseases along with their clinical features and consequences of the diseases.
Wellcome Trust, Sanger Institute: A United Kingdom on-line resource provides a Pfam database, a large collection of protein families.
The Biology Project: University of Arizonas Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics site provides problem sets and tutorials for Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Chemicals and Human Health, Developmental Biology, Human Biology, Immunology, Mendelian Genetics, and Molecular Biology. Problem sets and tutorials are active but not the visualization activities.
Biology Mad: An independent United Kingdom site provides tutorials, pictures, graphs, charts, and other summaries of human biology and biochemistry information. Clicking on the Site Map at left provides categories such as blood and circulation, respiration, hormones, various organs and other categories of human biology.
Cells Alive: On-line educational resource site covers topics in Cell Biology, Microbiology, Immunology and Microscopy. The majority of the site is freely accessible and includes film and computer-enhanced images of living cells and organisms, interactive models, Cell Biology and Immunology quizzes, etc.
SCOP: Structural Classification of Proteins: The Medical Research Council, Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, United Kingdom, created a protein database and has included a listing of various on-line resource sites such as the Protein Data Bank (PDB) and the Nucleic Acid Database (NAD).
Fatty Acid Synthesis and Modification: This NetBiochem tutorial lists overviews, systems, reactions and synthesis for fatty acid. In each section, click on the numbered/lettered boxes at top right.
NetBiochem Topics: Several medical biochemistry topics are provided (e.g. heme and iron metabolism). Tables, graphics and quiz/exam questions are provided at the end of the respective topics sections.
