Presenter:

Patti Stewart, Director of Faculty Development for the Academic Advancement Network

Teaching and learning is at the heart of what we do here at Michigan State University. Two prestigious fellowship programs focused on teaching and learning, the Lilly Fellowship and the Adams Fellowship, have been re-envisioned by the Academic Advancement Network, based on conversations with campus stakeholders and former fellows.

Prior to this re-casting, the Lilly Fellowship Program was only open to tenure-system faculty, with the Adams Academy being its complement for fixed-term and academic staff.

For the 2017-2018 season, the Lilly Fellowship and Adams Academy will be open to all academics, regardless of appointment type, provided they have significant teaching responsibilities. Prospective participants will apply to a given program based on its primary focus:

  • One’s professional growth in Teaching and Learning (Adams)
    • All tenure-system and fixed-term faculty and academic staff with three years or more of experience teaching at MSU are encouraged to apply. In addition, they are expected to teach or have other instructional responsibilities during the 2017-2018 academic year, concurrent with the Adams Academy Program.
  • Professionalization focused on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (Lilly)
    • All tenure-system and fixed-term faculty and academic staff with five years or more of experience teaching at MSU are encouraged to apply. In addition, they are expected to teach or have other instructional responsibilities during the 2017-2018 academic year, concurrent with the Lilly Fellowship Program.

Please come and hear more about these exciting fellowship programs!
