“Learning analytics is the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of data about learners and their contexts, for purposes of understanding and optimizing learning and the environments in which it occurs.” – Wikipedia

Gathering and analyzing data on student learning and performance, and acting on the information obtained, has the potential to improve teaching, learning, curriculum design, and student outcomes at MSU. In this workshop, we will discuss examples of how colleges and the neighborhoods can and are using data and predictive analytics to support proactive advising, identify priorities for curricular transformation, evaluate whether curricular reforms or mindset interventions undertaken enhance student learning, and support disciplinary-based educational research. Participants will learn what others are doing, share their views and plans, and participate in using data to move the needle on student success at MSU!
