February 16, 3:00-5:00 p.m.
110 Chittenden Hall--466 W. Circle Dr., East Lansing, MI 48824
This session will be facilitated by Dr. Barbara Roberts, Director of the WorkLife Office, and will give international faculty an opportunity to share their experiences of coming to the US and to MSU with the facilitator and one another. It will be a chance to ask questions, express the differences they see between their background experiences and new experiences at MSU, and connect in ways that are not focused on learning about US higher education, but rather on their experience of it, what newcomers bring to it, and how different people describe those experiences. How do your experiences elsewhere bump up against or inform your adjustment to life on campus? What was helpful, or not helpful? What could be more helpful? Dr. Roberts looks forward to learning from participants about what is surprising, what is uncomfortable, what is enjoyable, and learning what we can provide to make future landings at MSU softer, more welcoming and effective, for everyone.
